Turks & Caicos Guide: Activities

{Small lizard climbing up a tree}

Next week I am going to Curacao for a week, and it has me reminiscing on my past beach vacations. The past two summers I have spent a week in Turks & Caicos.  These islands are by far my favorite to visit {so far}!  The sand is silky, the water is crystal clear, and you can snorkel right off of the beach. We always stay at the Gansevoort, which is a great location with perfect amenities to make the trip as relaxing as possible. Turks & Caicos is such a fun island with many exciting things to explore. Here are the top 5 activities that you must do while visiting these islands.

1. Snorkel off the beach at Smith’s Reef: This reef is located right off of the beach and is home to many animals including a devil ray, barracudas, large lobsters, sting rays, and many types of fish!

2. Take a boat on a snorkeling & private island trip: Caico’s Dream Tours offers a half-day trip of snorkeling, diving for conch, and then eating fresh conch at a private island.  Diving for conch is fun, and having the captain prepare it for you fresh is an amazing experience.  Also, there are 4-5 feet iguanas on the island, so look out for those!

3. Glow worm boat tour: Three to six nights after a full moon, glow worms perform their mating ritual about an hour after sunset.  Take a night cruise and watch the gorgeous sunset, then see the glow worms illuminate the water in spectacular patterns.

4. Parasail: The parasailing is amazing here because the water is crystal clear and you can spot sharks under you.  Also, you can see the entire island from up there!

5. SCUBA or SNUBA dive: If you are SCUBA certified there are many amazing reefs to SCUBA! If not, then try SNUBA, which allows you to go deep without any special certifications.
